How can you share your cervical cancer story? Hear from Aisha McClellan, a cervical cancer survivor and mother of three. She is a dedicated advocate, raising awareness about HPV vaccination, regular screenings, and cervical cancer through her work with SHARE Cancer Support and on platforms like TikTok. One Surgeon Two Worlds: Navigating Disparities in Cervical Cancer between Malawi and the US
Cervical cancer is a global health problem. Dr. Anne Busisiwe Alaniz, a gynecologic oncologist at Houston Methodist in Houston, TX, discusses the burden of cervical cancer in Malawi and the challenges in providing comprehensive care there. Dr. Alaniz is a co-founder of Pothawira International, a nonprofit organization that provides healthcare, education, and economic sustainability projects in Malawi.

Dr. Cirila Estela Vasquez Guzman, Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Oregon Health and Science University (OSHU), discusses cervical cancer inequities, uplifting lived experiences research, and equity tools to close experiences.

Coping with Sleep Disturbances in Cancer
How does cancer impact someone’s sleep? Rina Fox PhD, MPH, discussed the common problem of sleep disturbance in cancer patients and how to address it, including cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, medication, and sleep hygiene. Dr. Fox is a clinical health psychologist and an Assistant Professor in the University of Arizona College of Nursing, and Co-Director of the Cancer Center’s Behavioral Measurement and Interventions Shared Resource.
