NCCC Manhattan Chapter Leader, Lila Taylor

Lila is the NCCC chapter leader in Manhattan. She is currently working as a research scientist, studying molecular and genetic mechanisms of breast cancer at Columbia University Medical Center. She hopes to pursue a career as a physician, and plans on working in oncology and women's health. During her undergraduate degree at Duke University, Lila started the Durham chapter of the NCCC and organized the North Carolina based chapter's first annual 5k Fun Run to raise money for HPV Vaccines in South America.

Beyond research, she is passionate about making a difference in the New York community through education about preventative treatments. Cervical cancer used to be one of the most dangerous cancers for women in the United States, but with screening tests, such as the Pap test and the HPV test, people who are at high risk for cervical cancer can get treatment before the cancer poses a deadly risk. Prevention is one of the most crucial tools in fighting cervical cancer, and Lila and the chapter are working hard to bring this awareness and fundraising to the Manhattan community.
