HPV Summit

Upcoming Events

The Houston chapter is pleased to be participate in the 2015 Summit on HPV-Related Diseases, taking place on Thursday, June 18, 2015. The goal of the 2015 summit is to reduce the incidence and mortality rates of HPV-associated cancers and improve the rates of HPV vaccination. This goal will be accomplished by bringing together family practitioners, pediatricians, school principals and school nurses, physician assistants in pediatric settings, parent leaders of PTOs and PTAs, school and community health educators, nurse practitioners in pediatric settings, School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) representatives and community advocates to review and discuss the implementation of evidence-based best practices for HPV-associated disease prevention and treatment.

Past Events

In July, the Houston chapter sponsored an afternoon tea and book signing with guest Dr. Lois Ramondetta, author of The Light Within, true story of a friendship Dr. Ramondetta developed with a patient when she was a young gynecologic oncology fellow.

In September, the chapter participated in the See, Test & Treat event along with volunteers from the Ft. Worth chapter. At the event, sponsored by the College of American Pathologists, women receive a pelvic and breast exam, a Pap test with same-day results, a mammogram with same-day or prompt results and connection to follow-up care.
