In August 2014, Lafayette chapter leader Denise Linton was an invited speaker at the National Black Nurses Association’s annual conference in Philadelphia. Denise spoke on the topic, “The Nurses Role in Overcoming Barriers to Cervical Cancer Prevention.” (And also to note, in 2012, the National Black Nurses Association, representing about 150,000 Black nurses in the Unites States, the Caribbean, and in Africa, honored Denise as the Nurse Educator of the Year.)

In October 2014, chapter leader Denise Linton recently participated in a "Stop the Violence" event sponsored by the Lafayette Commission on the Needs of Women and Faith House at the Heymann Performing Arts Center in Lafayette. The event gathered various community organizations to share information and provided the Layfayette chapter the chance to raie awareness about cervical cancer prevention and the importance of early detection.
