  • I am a cancer survivor
  • December 29, 2004 at 21:14:33

My cervix had been prolapsing from my vagina since I had my second daughter in August of 2003. The prolapse had been getting progressively worse and I had finally been scheduled for a vaginal hysterectomy to correct this irritating problem. Once I was in the operating room the gyn. found that my cervix showed signs of cancer and preformed a cone biospy instead. The biospy confirmed adenocarcinoma (explained 5 negative pap tests that I had endured in the past year)I was then scheduled for a radical hysterectomy in 3 weeks time. I am now 5 weeks postop and have just received my path. Results which show microscopic evidence of disease in 2 of the 16 lymphnodes that had been removed. I am now awaiting radiation therapy. I know nothing of radiation therapy - type, duration, side effects etc. If anyone has any knowledge or experiences good/bad please contact me
