  • I am a cancer survivor
  • January 26, 2005

I want to be able to share a little information. I was 19 when I was diagnosed. I had a little girl and the only thing that mattered to me was making sure that I could be here for her. I am now 36 years old, if you do the math that means that I am a 17 year survivor. I read Lauren Valparasio of Indiana^s story and I knew I had to write. Please do not give up hope. I now have 3 wonderful children. I had my last two when I was 27 and 28. I was told after my second daughter that my levels had increased and that I would need to come back again in 6 months for another test. If my levels were still up or higher we would have to look at a hysterectomy. I knew that I was very fortunate to already have 2 children but I also knew we wanted one more. I was pregnant when I returned to the doctor, I have only 1/8 of my cervix left. I delivered all three of my children naturally. I am also very happy to let you know that since the birth of my son I have NOT had ANY reoccurences. There is hope and you can win. Please do not give up on your dreams and remember to keep fighting no matter what. Sue Pairan, Ohio
