  • I am a cancer survivor
  • March 29, 2005

I just found out that I have carcinoma in situ. My story goes- I
am 31 years old and have 3 children(2 boys-ages 11 & 4 and 1 girl age 7)I started having trouble about 6 months after my last child( 2001)so I went in to find out what was going on. My doctor told me that I needed to have a hysterectomy due to my uterus dropping and all the other problems I was having. I was scheduled to have it done at the end of 2002 but my husband got hurt and lost his job and I had to go to work so I put the surgery off. My insurance ran out and we could not afford Cobra so I put up with the pain (for 3 years). My husband recently got a new job w/ insurance. First thing I did was make an appointment to see my doctor. I had my pap done and it came back abnormal. My doctor called me and told me that I needed to have
a colpo test done. I done that and while he was doing the biopsy he said that I had several little lesions but one large lesion he was concerned about and that he was going to schedule me to have a cone biopsy. I had that done on 3/16/05. All went well until yesterday (3/28/05) I had an appointment w/ my doctor at 2:00 p.m. He told me that my biopsy came back as severe dysplasia with carcinoma in situ. He said that the lesion was very large and that he got all he could. He drew me a picture of the lesion on my cervix and told me that the margin of where the carcinoma in situ stopped was at the edge of the lesion and it has not crossed over into the layers. He also said that there was some pre cancer cells in my glands but by taking out my
uterus this should take care of it. Im scheduled to have my hysterectomy on May 4, 2005. Doctor said that I needed to wait until then so my cervix can heel from the cone biopsy. Sorry my story was so long. I just wondered if anybody has been diagnosed with the same and can share there story with me. God bless all.
