  • I am a cancer survivor
  • July 18, 2005

My name is Alisha, I^m 19wks pregnant. I went in for a physical (which also involves a pap smear) on June 14th. I went back to the clinic on the 6th of July and my results said that I have abnormal cells.(I was treated for HPV in Jan of this year, so I believe that has something to do with this). I was referred to another doctor, and was also told that there may be nothing that can be done until my baby is born. I^m due Dec 8th,almost 5mths from now, and I^m horrified. That^s a long time to wait. My last pap came back normal and it was done in Jan also. I^ll be seeing the new doc on the 28th of July. I was told he may do a pap and check my cervix with a microscope. I haven^t had any major complications with my pregnancy up to this point, but I^m really scared something is going to go terribly wrong in these months of waiting. There was a bit of good news through it all... I was told that the abnormal cells could wash away or go away after my baby is born(or when my water breaks). I was wondering if anyone else has been through the same situation I’m going through, and if so what happened?
