I was 5 months pregnant with my daughter when I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I was told by the doctors at Stanford Medical Center that I could take Steriods to build the baby^s lungs, but that would cause the cancer to spread at a faster rate, or they could take the baby out but she would struggle with immature lungs. I chose the streoids and in a week due to high fevers and the cancer spreading it was necessary to deliver my daughter. On March 6, 1990, I had a c-section to deliver the baby and surgery to get the cancer out a hysterectomy was necessary. After a three month stay in the hospital, and radiation treatment, I am happy to say that I have a beautiful 15 year old daughter and on her birthdays we celebrate life, love, and another year cancer free. Everyday is a blessing and I am happy to be here enjoying life with my family. I am married and I have a son and of course my daughter.
