I was diagnosed w/cervical cancer in Jan 2005, first had my PAP and doc said no choice he was going to do a LEEP, which came back carcinoma itu, needed immediate hysterectomy, however, still have my ovaries. I was devestated at the age of 46 I still had no children, I had endured 2 eptopic pregnancies, and 2 miscarriages, years of infertility treatments, and now I had to make a final decision. I had my surgery in March 05, and was told if I hadn^t come in when I did, I would not have been here next year. The funny thing is I went to my OB/GYN for a large lump on my R Breast, which was removed as well, which is when I scheduled my PAP, cause like everyone else had been several years without insurance..My sister has just been diagnosed with melanoma and had her big toe removed Monday, so not so sure which one of us is most fortunate, but we both had a lot of prayers coming our way. I did read lately however that Cervical cancer can come back, that was a scarey thought, and also my sister-in-law works in terminal cancer ward at a local hospital, and gave me hell because I kept my ovaries, she said within 2 years I would be back with ovarian cancer, I spoke with my doctor and he gave me the numbers advising that less than 5% ever have any problems. But for now I am okay, and just glad to be here, I can always spoil my nieces and nephews. Prayers for all.
