  • I am a cancer survivor
  • When I was 15 I had an abnormal pap. At the time I had recently changed foster homes over an hour away from home. I never received my results from my Dr. I still continued to have paps and they were all normal. They did not test for HPV which I did not know at the time. So I assumed everything was fine. When I got pregnant with my son, they tested for everything and that's when I found out about the abnormal pap I had when I was 15. I couldn't believe that something like this would happen to me. After I had my son, I had to get a biopsy. The Dr. and I discussed the results and we decided that the leep procedure was the best option. After surgery I went back for a check up. The Dr. told me that it was worse than she thought and the HPV had turned into cervical cancer. And that surgery saved my life. If I never got pregnant with my son I wouldn't have known about my cervical cancer. I was lucky to catch it in time before it could get worse. My son saved my life. He is my precious angel.
