I just received news yesterday that I have high-risk HPV and ASCUS stage cells. I have been online continuously trying to find out more about it. I am at a stage of disbelieve, anger and shame. My husband and I have been married for 12 years and 5 before that. I have read many times that HPV can lie dormant for many years. Could we have both gotten it 17 years ago and it's just now surfacing? I believe viruses can "live" in you for a long time and stress can trigger it. I had shingles twice and live with Lupus (SLE) since 1996. I love my spouse and I know he has been faithful with me even though that sounds naive. I just can't get over how long we can carry this virus and yet go undetected for so long.
