July 6, 2005
My name is Alexandra, but everyone calls me Alex. I will be 20 on August 21, 2005. For about the past 6 months, I have been experiencing odd and uncomfortable symptoms such as irregular periods, spotting, blood clots, numbness in my legs, (more often my right one), cramping, abdominal pain, painful urrination, etc. I had a routine pap test done around Sept. 2004. I was told I had an abnormal pap smear and I was to come back 6 months early for my next one. I went back, this past March, and my results came back saying I have ^low-grade lesions^ which I was told are pre-cancerous. My doctor scheduled a coloposcopy at a gynocologist for me, but I have to wait for this appointment until August 26, 2005. I was into my doctor last week, with all of the symptoms mentioned above, so they did what testing they could do, for the time being. I was tested for any vaginal infections, as well as STD^s. All tests came back negative, although I have a urinary tract infection which I was given antibiotics for. The doctor told me that the bleeding and spotting is unlikely linked to the urinary tract infection, since the bleeding is in fact vaginal. Because of the constant problems I have had with urinary tract infections throughout my life, I assumed that for the past 6 months, this is what I have been experiencing. I have been going to my local emerg. each time, not wanting to wait for an appointment with my doctor, because of the level of discomfort. I am getting scared, and anxious, because now I am left hanging until late August with all of these symptoms, and my doctor has ruled out vaginal infections, and STD^s. I was also told that there definatly is something else going on, other than my current urinary tract infection. This leaves me to think it has something to do with the pre-cancerous cells in my cervix. I have read on dozens of websites the symptoms of cervical cancer and I experience them all. Does it make sense that I can not get in until late August to the gyno.? Does anyone know if my symptoms could be related to something else perhaps? Remember I tested negative for all STD^s as they were concerned about Chlamydia. Anyone^s thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated!
