I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in June 2008. I have had a radical hysterectomy (12 clear lymph nodes) staged at 1b1 with 7mm stromal invasion and angiolymphatic invasion, grade 3 squamous cell carcinoma. I have just completed 28 external and 3 internal radiation treatments, along with 6 weekly low dose cisplatin treatments. I am terrified of recurrence, and have read all information that I can find on this terrible disease. Does anyone actually know the survival stats for this stage of disease, it seems to vary. Also, it seems most women are diagnosed at this stage. What I really want to know is if there is a good chance of long term survival for this and if anyone out there knows of long term survivors or has access to them for emotional support and hope for the future. I am 47 years old and was in good physical health before all of this and was very fortunate with treatments in not having many side effects. Please send any comments pertaining to life after this and letters of encouragement. I am seeking professional help in dealing with this. It completely turns your life upside down. I want to return to some normalcy for myself and my family. I hope to spend many years with them in the future, as we all do. It is in Gods hands. May God heal us all.
