I am 37 years old and was diagnosed with stage 2b Cervical cancer in February of 2007. I have gone to the doctor religiously throughout my life and this came as a horrible detriment to me to hear this regarding my health. When I was 21 I had a scare with an abnormal pap, and had a coposcopy done and never had anything abnormal since. I just couldn\^t believe this was happening to me and now having children was not an option for me in my future. Survival was my #1 objective though and to get my body healthy to stay alive.
I began reading everything in sight on Organic health, cancer toxins in the body and ridding the body of all unnecessary additives and preservatives we do not need. This started a health regimen for me in which I lost 20 pounds as well.
The OB/GYN I had recommended me to a wonderful Oncologist in Long beach Dr. Michael Berman who said I would need 6 weeks of chemo in conjunction witj radiation daily for 6 weeks as well, then internal radiation brachiotherapy in the hospital. I was terrified and thought the world was coming to an end as I knew it. I took off from work on disability and having no family in So. Cal, my parents came out from Florida for 3 months to take me to all of my appointments daily. Without them, I don\^t know what I would of done or how I would have made it through mentally. The depression and sadness was endless, but with family and friends support throughout this ordeal; I made it through.
I am now cancer free as of October 31st!!!! I still have some pain off and on, but I understand that is scar tissue forming. I don\^t have to have another check up for 3 months which was the best news as well.
I encourage everyone that you can make it through conquering this horrible disease and with a positive spirit, God\^s help, family, friends and prayers we can endure~!!!
I am moving to Florida in a week to be closer to family and keep on enjoying this beautiful world we live in!!
